About us

Different Tales is a small video game development studio founded in 2018, led by industry veterans Jacek Brzeziński and Jarek Krawczyk. Our initial goal was to create games focused on storytelling, challenging the limits of the gaming medium and exploring questions rooted in the common human experience.

We’ve assembled a colourful team, not only from video game backgrounds, to create two games in the Wanderlust series. Wanderlust: Travel Stories won several awards and was our first attempt to develop a game for most existing platforms. It was also our first attempt to make a game that tackles real-world issues, and tries to stay away from common fantastic tropes seen in video games.

Our next step was different. We revisited our love for pen-and-paper role-playing games from our teenage years and contributed our own piece to the World of Darkness setting. We created two visual novels based on the Werewolf: The Apocalypse role-playing game. The first one also won a few awards, including the Paszport Polityki, a prestigious cultural award in Poland. This time we also touched real-world issues, related to environment issues, Polish politics, and refugee crisis. Werewolf was also a chance for us to learn how to work together remotely, during the Covid-19 pandemics.

We also spent some time developing a different kind of game—a life sim inspired by real-world communities living on the Mekong River in Cambodia, called Our Life On Water—a project that may still come to fruition in the future, but for now it needs to wait—well, the crisis in the industry got us too.

Currently our studio is stretched between two continents, from Poland to Reunion Island, and we are starting another step in our journey. While we can’t discuss our current endeavours yet, they will be revealed when the time is right.

Jacek Brzeziński is a versatile game developer—producer, designer, and programmer—who has worked on projects such as The Witcher (as project lead), Dying Light (as producer), and Hitman (as game designer).

Jarek Krawczyk is an art director who has worked on titles like Painkiller, Juju, Hard Reset, Shadow Warrior, Sniper: Ghost Warrior, Heaven’s Vault, and, of course, is responsible for amazing art seen in our own games.
